Penalties for Multiple DUI Offenders
Multiple DUI offenders face serious penalties for a second DUI offense. These include up to one year in jail, a $1,500 fine, three year license suspension, and a mandatory ignition interlock device installed in offender's car. The penalties increase if the blood alcohol content was .15 or higher, or if there were other aggravating circumstances, such as driving drunk with a child in the car.
Those charged with a third DUI might face a Class C felony DUI/DUII. If convicted, they could spend up to five years in jail, pay a minimum $2,000 fine, and have their driver's license permanently revoked, among other penalties.
